Naismith Awards: Who Are the 2025 Women’s Defensive Player of the Year Semifinalists?
The Naismith Awards announced the 2025 Naismith Women’s College Defensive Player of the Year Semifinalists Tuesday, headlined by superstars Lauren Betts from UCLA and JuJu Watkins from USC. Among the other names on the list include rebounds leader Aneesah Morrow of LSU and FSU’s Makayla Timpson who finished the season third in blocks per game.
Talaysia Cooper named semifinalist for Naismith Women's Defensive Player of the Year
Tennessee women's basketball player Talaysia Cooper has been named a semifinalist for the 2025 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Award, presented by MOLECULE. Cooper, a redshirt sophomore and South Carolina transfer, was one of 10 semifinalists for the award. She is one of three student-athletes on the list who is not a junior or above.
