Adam Sandler has revealed that the sequel to Happy Gilmore had to be rewritten following the death of his co-star Carl Weathers. The Rocky and Predator star died last year, at the age of 76. He famously played Chubbs Peterson, the mentor to Sandler’s Gilmore, in the much-loved 1996 golf comedy.

The famed golf influencer, who has a cameo in the highly anticipated sequel, took a page out of Jessica Rabbit’s playbook at the NYC premiere.

Something fun going on in the lead up to that though is the great work that TruGreen and First Tee have going on in anticipation of the movie. TruGreen and First Tee linked up (no pun intended) with Ball State golfer Landon “Happy” Gilmore. Obviously Landon has gone by that nickname for just about his whole life.
