Fusion energy company Helion raises $425 million as milestones approach
Helion is raising money with major projects on the horizon. The company plans to deliver electricity to Microsoft from a 50-megawatt fusion plant starting in 2028, but Helion hasn't yet disclosed where the plant will be. Helion aims to develop a 500-megawatt plant for the steel and recycling company Nucor sometime in the 2030s.

According to TechCrunch, Helion will use its $425 million funding round to upgrade its manufacturing capabilities. The company currently relies on external suppliers to provide it with capacitors, a type of energy storage device. Helion hopes that moving capacitor manufacturing in-house will enable it to significantly speed up production.
