What's next for Indiana? Hoosiers built to contend again, but challenging 2026 schedule awaits
Indiana is playing another soft nonconference schedule featuring North Texas, Howard and Western Kentucky. Though Indiana's league slate features five home games, it won't be a cakewalk. Among the opponents are Ohio State (home), USC (home), Michigan (road) and Nebraska (road).
In an essay she penned for the Players Tribune in December, titled "Dear Fernando," Fernando Mendoza's mother Elsa Mendoza shared that she became pregnant with him at age 25, after moving from Miami to Boston following graduate school.
From audacious upstart to unbeaten national champion, Curt Cignetti and the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers completed their meteoric rise to the top of college football Monday night. “Don’t put no limitations on us,” Indiana receiver Elijah Sarratt said. “Indiana just isn’t little ol’ Indiana anymore.”
Curt Cignetti and his wife, Manette, have three children, with the youngest being named Natalie. And Natalie is making waves with a social media post she shared in the wake of her father's win. Back in 2019, Natalie texted her father, "are you happy!!!" after he won his first Division 1 playoff game with James Madison University.

Indiana QB Alberto Mendoza, Fernando's younger brother, reportedly transfers to Georgia Tech
Indiana quarterback Alberto Mendoza, the younger brother of Hoosiers star Fernando Mendoza, will reportedly transfer to Georgia Tech.
The Hoosiers, previously known only for hoops, entered the season with the most losses ever in Division I college football and left as its best team.
Indiana beat Miami 27-21, thanks to an interception from Jamari Sharpe on Miami's final possession of the game. Sharpe intercepted quarterback Carson Beck as he was trying to throw a long pass down the field.
Fueled by its defense and a smothering start, No. 3 Michigan opened the game on a 19-4 run and never looked back as it kicked off a three-game homestand with a wire-to-wire 86-72 win over Indiana at Crisler Center.
