At the heart of the system, the C1 (Cellular 1) chip first appears in the iPhone 16e. It is also expected to debut in other Apple devices in the coming months and will likely see use across all or most of the iPhone range by this time next year. Apple calls it “the most power efficient modem ever in an iPhone.”
Apple iPhone 16e vs. iPhone 16: What’s the difference?
One of the primary reasons the iPhone 16e is less expensive than the iPhone 16 is due to the differences in their camera systems. While both models feature a 48MP main camera, the iPhone 16 has a slightly larger sensor, which typically produces better image quality, particularly in low-light conditions.
The iPhone 16E is now available for preorder.
It starts at $599 and includes the company’s A18 chip and support for Apple Intelligence. The iPhone 16E also has Apple’s first 5G modem, the C1, instead of a Qualcomm chip. It ships on February 28th.
