RFK Jr. has claimed measles can be treated with vitamin A and that severe infection is linked to poor diet. But many experts who spoke with ABC News disagreed.

In Texas specifically, a total of 223 people have contracted measles since the outbreak began in January, with at least 29 people, mostly children, requiring hospitalization. One child, who was unvaccinated, has died from measles, while a second unvaccinated person’s death is currently being investigated by health officials.

In response, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has praised the benefits of the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine. But he has also touted the benefits of vitamin A, cod liver oil, and good overall nutrition as ways to stem the outbreak.
