Shi Yongxin, the abbot of the world-renowned Shaolin Temple, is being investigated by multiple agencies for embezzlement, "improper relationships with multiple women" and "fathering illegitimate children", the temple said on Sunday.

Shi Yongxin, the temple’s abbot since 1999, has also had his ordination certificate revoked over allegations that he embezzled funds and had “improper relationships” with women.

China's Shaolin Temple said its abbot, Shi Yongxin, is under investigation for misappropriation and embezzlement of funds.
