The water will flow down the Jordan River until it reaches the Great Salt Lake. Releases are planned for the next few weeks.

The Central Utah Water Conservancy District announced this week that nearly 23 billion gallons of water will be sent from Utah Lake to the Great Salt Lake. The process began Jan. 29 and involves releasing 500 million gallons of water per day from Utah Lake down the Jordan River.

Utah Lake is poised to deliver another boost to its northern neighbor this year. Central Utah Water Conservancy District officials announced Wednesday that they plan to send 500 million gallons of water daily into the Jordan River and toward the Great Salt Lake via a Utah Lake control gate by the Point of the Mountain.
