Travel retailer WHSmith is enhancing its collaboration with Toys R Us, planning an additional 37 UK shop-in-shops in the autumn and winter of 2024/25. Following the exclusive launch of the first UK-based Toys R Us shop-in-shop in 2023,

WHSmith disclosed initial Toys R Us roll-out plans earlier this year, and will now launch three every week between the end of September and Christmas. Toys R Us shut its UK stores in 2018 after collapsing into administration but returned in June last year when WHSmith opened the first shop-in-shop in its York Monks Cross branch.

WHSmith is set to open 37 more Toys R Us stores before Christmas. The move will almost double the number of Toys R Us shop-in-shops in its UK stores, as reported by Retail Gazette. The stationery retailer opened its first UK Toys R Us stores last year, with the Cheltenham High Street store being one of the first. It now has 39 locations.

WHSmith is expanding its partnership with Toys 'R' Us, as it plans to opening a further 37 shop-in-shops in the coming months, building on its current 39 stores under the tie-up.
