Nearly 200,000 Danes are supporting a comedic petition to buy California from the U.S., in what appeared to be a jab at President Donald Trump’s repeated threats to seize Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark.

In response to President Donald Trump’s continued musing about the U.S. acquiring Greenland from Denmark, Danish citizens have launched their own effort to purchase America’s most economically prosperous state.

A satirical campaign proposing that Denmark purchase California has gained significant traction, collecting nearly 200,000 signatures.
