The Rangers’ chances of beating out the crowded field vying for a playoff spot will be a little bit more challenging now that they will be without top defenseman Adam Fox, who was placed on injured reserve Wednesday with an upper-body injury. Fox will miss at least a week and perhaps more.

Adam Fox was placed on injured reserve Wednesday after leaving in the third period of the New York Rangers’ 5-1 win against the New York Islanders the night before with what appeared to be a left shoulder injury.

Losing top defenseman Adam Fox is the last thing that the New York Rangers need right now, but the unfortunate reality is that is their current situation. Fox has been placed on Injured Reserve by the Rangers after getting hurt during their 6-1 win over the New York Islanders at UBS Arena on Tuesday night.
