College football playoff seedings are heating up and the committee is making its positions clear. The committee ranked Notre Dame ninth, ahead of No. 13 Miami — which beat the Fighting Irish earlier this year.

"We really compare the losses of those two teams," CFP committee chairman Hunter Yurachek said Tuesday. "Miami has lost to two unranked teams [Louisville and SMU]. Notre Dame has lost to two teams that are ranked within our top 13 [Texas A&M and Miami]."

With head coach Marcus Freeman’s squad set to host Syracuse for Senior Day, the Irish expect to put together another impressive showing. For the seniors, it will potentially be their last home game of their careers. For some, it will be a chance to continue playing well, and for others, it will be a bit of a “get right game” to get back on track.

Love certainly has done his part to help Notre Dame (8-2, No. 9 CFP) rebound from two straight losses to start the season by winning eight straight to put the Irish back in the postseason debate.

The 247Sports Composite, which takes into account the 247, Rivals and ESPN rankings, lists Notre Dame with four current five-star talents, with even more just on the cusp of making it in.
