Philippine ex-President Rodrigo Duterte, who left a savage legacy over his deadly anti-drugs crackdown, was arrested on an international warrant as he returned to Manila.

Before he was elected president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte already was nicknamed "The Punisher" and "Duterte Harry" for his years-long and often violent campaign against drug offenders as mayor of his hometown of Davao.

Duterte was detained shortly after landing from Hong Kong, where police officers served him an official ICC arrest warrant. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s office confirmed the order had been received and executed.
