Two police officers in Portland, Oregon, were injured in a shooting late Tuesday and authorities were searching for the suspect, police said.

A Richmond police office fatally shot a person Thursday morning in an incident that caused the California Highway Patrol to close all of westbound Interstate 80, authorities said.

Three people were shot dead in a rural Australian town on Thursday, the police said, days after the country passed stricter gun laws in the wake of a mass shooting last month.

A fourth person has been taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
