Droves of Tennessee fans packed Ohio Stadium for Ohio State‘s openingCollege Football Playoff matchup on Dec. 21. It created a unique pregame atmosphere for the Buckeyes, which could have ended very badly for Ryan Day and his Buckeyes.

You see, Ryan Day has a Michigan problem. It was only a couple of months ago that the same Ohio State fans who are celebrating this contract extension were calling for Day to be fired after his fourth-straight loss to the Wolverines, this time at home as 19.5-point favorites.

The contract, pending approval by the university’s Board of Trustees, runs through the 2031 season and would make Day the second highest-paid coach in the country behind Georgia’s Kirby Smart.
