The Supreme Court is sending Donald Trump’s immunity case back to a lower court in Washington, dimming the prospect of a pre-election trial.
Last year, Laiss argued that he should receive immunity under a sweeping pardon issued by President Donald Trump last November granting immunity to Rudy Giuliani and others involved in his effort to overturn the 2020 election. Trump lost the election to former President Joe Biden, but still falsely claims he won.
President Trump said that Iranian diplomats should request asylum. The Iranian diplomats, he said, should “help us shape a new and better Iran with great potential.” He also reiterated his call for members of the Iranian government and military to surrender to the U.
Trump promised to increase liability protections for police officers, but no legislation has passed to expand immunity for law enforcement officers.
