Cargill's spokesperson said this is the right move to make for the future of the company's turkey business.

The Springdale Chamber of Commerce said in a statement that the closure of the live turkey production plant will affect close to 1,000 employees, their families, and the broader Springdale community.

Cargill has confirmed it plans to close its turkey processing facility in Springdale. More than 1,000 employees and more than 100 farmers who raise turkeys for the company are

"This was not an easy decision to make ... However, it is the right move to make for the future of our turkey business," said Cargill in a statement.
