SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WEVV) — The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has been unveiled as the official pace car for the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500. Known for its remarkable performance, the ZR1 boasts a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing over a thousand horsepower, making it the most powerful V8 engine ever produced by a U.S. manufacturer.

Scott McLaughlin set the fastest Indy 500 pole time in history last year in his Team Penske Chevrolet with a 234.220 mph speed, which means he was just fast enough to stay in front of this year’s pace car.

This year will mark the 22nd time that the Corvette has lead the field ahead of the Indianapolis 500. Fans can tune in on May 25th to watch the car in action.
