President Donald Trump on Monday pardoned Rod Blagojevich, the former Illinois governor who was convicted and sentenced to prison on corruption charges surrounding his time in office.

President Donald Trump on Monday pardoned former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, a Democrat and former contestant on "Celebrity Apprentice," who was convicted of corruption for trying to sell former President Barack Obama's vacated U.

The ex-governor said he and the president were victims of 'lawfare' and didn't address rumors that he's being considered for an ambassadorship.

President Trump commuted the former Illinois governor's sentence back in 2020 after he had served 8 years of a 14-year sentence.

Blagojevich was commuted after serving nearly eight of his 14-year sentence in February 2020, during President Trump's first presidency.

President Donald Trump is expected to issue a pardon to former Celebrity Apprentice contestant and Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, Axios reported. The move comes almost exactly five years after Trump first cut Blagojevich’s 14-year sentence on federal corruption charges short in 2020.
