Intense Israeli airstrikes are targeting Iran’s capital in a conflict that a human rights group said had killed at least 585 people across Iran and wounded 1,326 others.

Uncertainty roiled the region and residents of Tehran fled their homes in droves on the sixth day of Israel’s air campaign aimed at Iran’s military and nuclear program.

The Israeli military said it was conducting strikes in the Tehran area early Wednesday local time. The announcement came shortly after it warned residents of a Tehran district to evacuate, saying that it would be striking at military infrastructure in coming hours.
