In his absence, the Chiefs will likely turn to a journeyman quarterback, Gardner Minshew, to finish out the season, as he is currently the only other active quarterback on the roster. Minshew has appeared in three games this season, completing 3-of-5 passes for 22 yards with no touchdowns and an interception.

Mahomes was down and in pain for several minutes and eventually had to be helped into the locker room by the training staff.
