Forecasters have warned of a "danger to life" from fast-flowing rivers as heavy rain and flooding are predicted to hit parts of the UK this weekend.

Amber and yellow national severe warnings for rain have been issued for northwest England, west and southwest Scotland, Northern Ireland and parts of north Wales.
