There was much that was attractive about Bregman when the Red Sox signed him to a three-year, $120 million deal with opt-outs earlier this month. Bregman gave the Red Sox a righthanded bat, providing much-needed balance to a lineup that was primarily lefthanded.

The game also marked the Red Sox debut of infielder Alex Bregman. The former Astro had an impressive day himself with three hits and his first home run in a Boston uniform. He was quite impressed with what he saw from Crochet during his mound appearance.

The Houston Astros picked up a 3-2 spring training win over the St. Louis Cardinals and Astros pitcher Hunter Brown got the start on the mound. Brown only spent two innings in the game, but held the Cardinals to no runs off one hit,
