Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe signed two pieces of legislation regarding elections and class action lawsuits into law on Thursday.
A new Missouri law allows the attorney general to challenge temporary injunctions, a move inspired by a pending abortion-rights case. But a lawsuit filed Friday argues that the law violates the constitution in multiple ways.
Additionally, the bill extends the deadline for final legal rulings on ballot title challenges from 56 to 70 days prior to the election. It also doubles the word limit for ballot summaries prepared by the General Assembly from 50 to 100 words.
