Florian Wirtz has officially become the most expensive signing in Premier League history after Liverpool secured the 22-year-old German midfielder from Bayer Leverkusen for a staggering €150 million.

It seems as though we’ve been saying it for weeks, but it really does now feel like we’re just days away from Florian Wirtz officially becoming a Liverpool FC player.

Liverpool’s continued engagement with Leverkusen over recent weeks has also coincided with major changes at the German club. Head coach Xabi Alonso has taken over at Real Madrid, replacing Carlo Ancelotti. Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been appointed to lead Leverkusen through the next phase of their development.
