Joseline Peña-Melnyk was unanimously elected as the 109th speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates. Peña-Melnyk is the first immigrant and first Afro-Latina woman to hold this leadership position. She succeeds Adrienne A. Jones, who stepped down from the role but remains in the House of Delegates.
