A suspect has been arrested in connection with the theft of U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's purse at a Washington restaurant, the Secret Service said on Sunday, and Noem said the individual has been living in the United States illegally.

An arrest has been made in the investigation of the theft of a high-end Gucci bag belonging to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, a law enforcement source familiar with the investigation tells CNN.

The Department of Homeland Security secretary’s purse contained her driver’s license, medication, keys, checks, department badge, passport and $3,000 in cash.
