Xbox and Avalanche Studios have stopped “active development” on their upcoming “Contraband” video game. First announced by Microsoft Gaming in 2021, “Contraband” is described as “a co-op smuggler's paradise set in the fictional world of 1970s Bayan.

Another Xbox game seems to be disappearing, with Bloomberg's Jason Schreier initially reporting on Thursday via Bluesky that Contraband is being canceled. This was quickly followed by an official statement from the developers, which confirmed that work on the project was ceasing.

Xbox Game Studios has chosen to cancel Contraband, a new game that was in development at Avalanche Studios and announced four years ago at E3 2021.
