AERIALS: Mudslide at Buffalo Trace Distillery results in cargo container, office building falling into Kentucky River

No one was injured Monday after a mudslide at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort caused a container and a temporary office building to fall into the Kentucky River, a company official said. Early Monday morning,

Footage shot by Louisville TV station WLKY showed the bank of the river eroded and collapsing under the pavement next to the Dry House where the distillery treats stillage or spent grains, which are left over after the fermentation and distilling process.

Officials report that a cargo container and a temporary office fell into the Kentucky River early Monday morning at Buffalo Trace Distillery due to a mudslide.

According to a statement, the weather-related mudslide happened on the northeast side of the distillery along the Kentucky River. We’re told crews are still assessing the situation, but they know the mudslide resulted in one cargo container and one temporary office falling into the river.

A world-renowned Kentucky Bourbon distillery is picking up the pieces after a mudslide. A Buffalo Trace Distillery representative told FOX 56 it happened in the early morning hours on Monday on the northeast side of the property.

The distillery is still looking into the situation and is working with professionals to clean the area properly.
