Scott McLaughlin set the fastest Indy 500 pole time in history last year in his Team Penske Chevrolet with a 234.220 mph speed, which means he was just fast enough to stay in front of this year’s pace car.

For its pace car duties, the ZR1 comes with the carbon aero package, including dive planes on the front bumper, underbody aero strakes and a rear wing that helps create more than 1,200 pounds of downforce at top speeds.

With “the Greatest Spectacle in Racing" less than a month away, officials at IndyCar have just announced that the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will serve as the pace car during the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500. The twin-turbocharged monster will be the 22nd Corvette to have that honor since the nameplate’s debut in 1953.
