On February 28, 1985, George Strait recorded "The Chair," which is widely considered one of his best songs. Written by Hank Cochran and Dean Dillon, the song came to them at 4am when they had been writing songs (and drinking) all night long and "were written out." Hank sat down across from Dean, and he strummed his guitar and sang the lyrics, "Well, excuse me, but I think you've got my chair." 45 minutes later, the song was written.
