Happy Timket! Timket, or Ethiopian Epiphany, commemorates the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist. Today, priests will ceremoniously carry the holy Tabots (replicas of the ark of the covenant) from the alters in their respective churches, to water. The priests and devotees will stay with the tabots all night until they are returned the next day. Every Ethiopian Orthodox Church will make the journey.
