I can confirm that the Bishop Lavis Magistrate Court has been set alight. It is rumoured that community members including children are stoning vehicles at the court and may be responsible for the fire. Fire and rescue has been informed. As expected, the suspect in the murder of Shireena Birch appeared in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ Court this morning. Her husband was formally charged and has been remanded in custody until a formal bail application next week. This is a small but important victory for us as a community.
