Former President Barack Obama made an unexpected visit to the Bessie Coleman branch of the Chicago Public Library and surprised 27 elementary school kids. The children were in the middle of a leadership-themed coloring session and story time when he surprised them. Wearing a Santa hat, Obama read them a children’s book about Bessie Coleman (the first Black/Native American woman to have a pilot’s license) and handed out winter gear and books for them to take home.
