At 17, Emily was studying for her A-Levels at Wimbledon High School. She hoped to become a doctor. As well as a talented dancer, Emily was also a keen runner for Surrey, a netball player, a ball girl for Wimbledon Tennis and had recently signed to model with Select Model Management. This all stopped when a tangle of blood vessels known as an arteriovenous malformation (or AVM) burst, and caused a brain bleed while Emily was at a ballet lesson.
